Since 2016, EV Safe Charge has provided EV charging solutions for organizations ranging from global automakers and major corporations to utilities, property owners and other businesses.
Our experience includes installing, renting and operating EV charging equipment and supporting a range of charging applications and deployments. Customers and projects have included organizations such as Jaguar, Porsche, Audi, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, 20th Century Fox and others.

We’re also developing new approaches to EV charging, including ZiGGY, the Mobile Robotic EV Charger, designed to bring charging to a vehicle rather than requiring every vehicle to find a dedicated charging space.

This work gives our team direct exposure to EV charging technology, infrastructure and the practical issues that affect EV drivers and charging operators.

How We Choose What to Recommend

We don’t necessarily purchase, install or conduct hands-on testing of every product or service featured in our guides.

Instead, our recommendations draw on a combination of industry experience, technical knowledge, product information, available specifications, manufacturer documentation and our judgment about what is useful for EV drivers and charging applications.

The factors we consider vary by product category. For EV charging equipment, adapters and accessories, for example, we may consider:

Vehicle and charging-equipment compatibility
Electrical specifications and capabilities
Applicable safety standards and certifications
Construction and suitability for the intended environment
Ease of use and practical utility
Manufacturer reputation and support
Warranty and product documentation
Value relative to available alternatives
How well the product addresses real-world charging needs

For services the relevant criteria are different. We may consider factors such as availability, features, pricing structure, transparency, customer support, reputation and relevance to EV ownership.

We don’t use a single formula or score for every recommendation.

We apply the criteria that are relevant to the particular product, service and decision we’re helping readers make.

Hands-On Testing vs. Expert Evaluation

There’s an important distinction between a product we’ve used ourselves and one we’ve evaluated based on our experience and available information.

When EV Safe Charge has direct experience with a particular product, technology or service, we may say so.
When we haven’t personally tested a product, we won’t represent our evaluation as hands-on testing. Instead, our assessment may be based on specifications, documentation, our experience with comparable equipment, industry standards and other information we consider relevant.

This distinction allows us to cover useful products and emerging technologies without implying a level of testing that hasn’t occurred.

How We Select Affiliate Partners

Not every company with an affiliate program is a good fit for EV Safe Charge.

We look for partners whose products or services are relevant to EV owners and align with the type of information and solutions we believe are useful to our audience. An affiliate relationship allows EV Safe Charge to receive compensation when a reader purchases a product or takes another qualifying action through certain links.

There is no additional cost to the reader for using these links.

The availability or amount of an affiliate commission does not, by itself, make a product or service worthy of recommendation.
We may also discuss or recommend products and services for which EV Safe Charge receives no affiliate compensation.

Commercial Relationships and Editorial Judgment

EV Safe Charge is an EV charging company, not an independent nonprofit testing organization. We may have commercial relationships with manufacturers, service providers and other companies operating in the EV ecosystem.

We believe the appropriate approach is to be transparent about those relationships while keeping our recommendations useful.
When content contains affiliate links, we disclose that relationship. Where another material commercial relationship is relevant to a recommendation, we aim to disclose it as well.

Our objective is straightforward: commercial relationships may support our content, but they should not substitute for our judgment about whether a product or service is appropriate to recommend.

Compatibility and Safety Matter

EV charging technology is evolving quickly. Connector standards, vehicle compatibility, charging-network access, software and manufacturer requirements can change.

A product that is appropriate for one vehicle or charging situation may not be appropriate for another.
For that reason, our guides should be treated as a starting point for making an informed decision. Always verify compatibility and current requirements with the vehicle manufacturer, charging-equipment manufacturer or service provider before purchasing or using equipment.

For electrical installations, EV charging equipment should be installed and used in accordance with applicable manufacturer instructions, electrical codes and professional requirements.

We Update Our Recommendations

Products change. Prices change. Companies introduce new models, discontinue old ones and update specifications. EV charging standards and vehicle support also continue to evolve.

We periodically review our guides and may update recommendations as products, technologies and market conditions change.
If a product we previously recommended is no longer available—or we no longer believe it is an appropriate recommendation—we may replace or remove it.

Our Goal

EV Safe Charge’s buying guides are intended to combine practical EV-industry experience with clear, useful consumer information.
We aren’t trying to recommend every available product. We want to help readers understand their options, identify the factors that matter and find products and services that we believe are worth considering.

When we’ve tested or used something ourselves, we’ll tell you. When our recommendation is based on professional evaluation rather than hands-on testing, we’ll make that distinction as well.

And when EV Safe Charge may receive compensation from a recommendation, we’ll disclose it.
