EV Safe Charge Joins Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator Latest Cohort
Latest Win for Startup and its Mobile Robotic EV Charger ZiGGY
LOS ANGELES, June 15, 2023 – EV Safe Charge was chosen by Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) to be part of the organization’s latest Incubation Program cohort, providing opportunities for the startup to focus on accelerating its commercialization of the first and only mobile EV charging robot with communication and advertising, ZiGGY. LACI is the City of Los Angeles’s official cleantech business incubator, established to create an inclusive green economy for the people of Los Angeles by working with startups to accelerate the commercialization of clean technologies, transforming markets through partnerships with policymakers, innovators, and market leaders, and enhancing communities through workforce development, pilots, and other programs. The cohort includes companies that are transforming the landscape of zero emissions transportation, clean energy and sustainable cities.
“We are honored that EV Safe Charge was chosen by LACI to be part of Cohort 6,” said Caradoc Ehrenhalt, founder and CEO of EV Safe Charge. “We are eager to capitalize on the resources that LACI offers to further advance our commercialization plans for ZiGGY. As the first and only mobile EV charger that aims to affordably and safely meet the EV charging needs of virtually any commercial parking lot – we hope to bring our innovative solution to multifamily, retail, hospitality and airport settings across Los Angeles and beyond as we begin demonstration projects and pilots at DFW Airport and with the City of Barcelona. We have further differentiated our autonomous offer with a built-in communications and advertising platform to create a revenue stream for sites.”
“One of the ways LACI is creating an inclusive green economy and accelerating equitable climate action is by seeking and helping scale a diverse portfolio of startups and founders with our curriculum, coaching, mentorship, access to unique funding, including our debt and venture funds, piloting and scaling their technologies, and more,” said LACI CEO Matt Petersen. Petersen continued, “That is why LACI is excited about cleantech startups like EV Safe Charge, who are joining our incubation program, so we can help deploy climate solutions that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, fill gaps in the marketplace, create green jobs and economic opportunity.”
“Parking operators must meet the growing demand for EVs to charge easily,” explained Caradoc Ehrenhalt. “In evaluating startups to include in its new cohort, we believe LACI chose us because they saw the unique role the tech offered by ZiGGY will play in the future of EV charging, due to its innovative flexibility to provide charging where infrastructure is lacking and to reach every car in a parking lot, not just a few spaces.”
EV Safe Charge, in addition to selling commercial Level 2 and DC Fast Chargers, creates and implements temporary charging solutions for its large-scale commercial customers, including many mobility manufacturers such as Jaguar, Porsche, Stellantis, Nissan, Audi, Daimler, and Harley-Davidson. “At EV Safe Charge, we worked the past three years to develop ZiGGY, an onsite-autonomous robotic charger operating through an app to meet a broad range of EV charging needs in locations everywhere,” continued Ehrenhalt. Recently, the city of Barcelona chose EV Safe Charge as the winner of its pilot-project competition for flexible EV charging based on ZiGGY’s ability to serve many vehicles within a parking area. This is the first municipal pilot of a mobile, robotic EV charger. Also, ZiGGY just concluded a successful demo at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport as a participant in the airport’s demonstration program to assess cutting-edge EV-charging approaches this summer. This airport demonstration is the first of its kind anywhere in the world.
